Unofficially, CursorFX Plus 2.11 works fine for me on Windows 8 and 8.1.

Except on my touchscreen rig, where it is a tad buggy.

It worked on Windows 8.1 but corrupted:

incomplete, often freezes, problems with startup, no effects.

Problems, and should finally be updated by Stardock.

I take that back. Just installed CursorFX Plus Vs. 5.11 freshly from Stardock Central and everything is working correctly. Also cursor in the Metro scene.

5.11?

Sorry, that should be Vs. 2.11

However, sounds do not work within browser windows

All other items fine.

I am having a problem getting CursorFX to install on Windows 8.1.

I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 pro x64 on this machine (not an upgrade). When I attempt to run the installer(CursorFX_free.exe), get the erro:,

"The following minimum system requirements for this setup were not met:

Operating System: WindowsXP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2

This setup will now abort."

If I click "OK", it just closes and that's it.

How did those of you that aren't having problems get it to install?

Thanks!

WhiteFeatherMoon,

I have Windows 8.1 64bits and this is how I got CursorFX properly installed.

Get Stardock Central, that is a direct updating program you have to install (free) and register with Stardock.

Do not install the free version of CursorFX but get CursorFX Plus, Version 2.11 and install straight form Central. That works fine, and like I already stated, sounds cannot be heard in Browser Windows, but you get the sounds of your choice when clicking on the desktop and Windows Explorer. Click Sounds are a feature of Plus. Also get fancy cursors from WinCustomize (the ones of neone6 are exceptionally flashy, and there are plenty of more good cursor sets you can download for free), adjust shadows, turn left handed pointing to the right, get effects and trails, it's all very wonderful. You never want to miss that application ever again.

Now let us know how you'll go from here.

Every time I switch from the Start screen (with the tiles) to the Desktop it appears only alone the edges of windows. I have to do a ctrl/shift/c twice to bring it back fully. Really annoying.

nbafan99,

What version of windows and what version of CursorFX Plus are you running ?

I have windows 8.1  and cursorfx2.11 running and they are working beautifully together.  Is your windows fully updated with all patches.  Also, don't use Stardock Central as it is no longer supported.  You can get CursorFX Plus  from your downloads page under your customer account at Stardock.

You can also update right from inside the CursorFX Plus application by clicking on the About tab on the left.

cheers

I have problems when using Firefox. I'm using the latest versions like you.
