I love using Bootskin, it's definitely an improvement over the lame Windows boot. When it came out they were talking about it advancing to being able to have 64-bit color (I believe), but it hasn't been updated in almost a year.. Anyone know if it's still being work on or is it dead as far as development, cause I know the guys at Stardock are busy............ I hope it's not dead.
I use 3 different widgets on my desktop, and I was wondering what is the memory and CPU difference between running several widgets and DX. DX has some objects (like email checkers) that don't work as widgets right now and i was wondering if switching would slow my system too much because I only have a 1.7 Ghz P4 with 256MB memory. Any advice would be appreciated.
There are less and less icon packages coming out over the last 6 mos. to a year. Are they going to die out? They are one of the integral parts in putting together a good desktop. I would make them myself but I'm artistically challenged. Maybe we should have Master Icon Packages to encourage people to create some.... It seems to be working for Windowblinds.
I installed Desktop Gadgets today and once I had it on my system I noticed that all the gadgets (silica whatever) were all pretty much already done as widgets. So what exactly is the difference between a widget and a gadget?
